Seeking a Safeguarding Coordinator
Westhills Parish Church is seeking a new Safeguarding Coordinator following the retiral of the current Coordinators at the end of 2026. We welcome expression of interest in this important role. An brief outline of the requirements for the role of Safeguarding Coordinator are listed below.

- The role of Safeguarding Coordinator is a vital one for the safety of all people who are part of the life of the church.
- The role is voluntary and unpaid
- The role requires the undertaking of training specific to the role of Coordinator
- Ideally, the Coordinator would have experience in Safeguarding within the Church of Scotland.
- The Coordinator should be familiar with the Safeguarding Policy of the Church of Scotland
- The role requires competency in using I.T. e.g word processing, email, video meetings (Zoom / Teams) and be prepared to use their own laptop or desktop or iPad and printer/scanner to carry out their role and be able to keep information secure.
- The maintenance of the Safeguarding Register is the task of the Coordinator
- The Safeguarding Annual Audit is the task of the Safeguarding Panel.
- The person who fulfils the role must be competent and proactive in Administration and in ensuring other parties have access to and have completed training appropriate to their role.
- The role requires a high degree of personal integrity in matters of Disclosure, handling allegations of abuse, reporting of issues etc.
- The Coordinator must be able to work as part of the Safeguarding panel and be able to communicate effectively and promptly with panel members, the Minister (if necessary), the Police, to report regularly including in person to the Trustee Body and to take direction from the professionals at the Safeguarding Service of the Church of Scotland.
